Importance of Need based Scholarships

Scholarships provide the student with an opportunity to earn an education without taking any help from outside sources. Those who have trouble paying for the degree need scholarships to enter professional life and become a contributing member of society.  There are many students in Pakistan who work in several places over the course of their university studies in order to pay for their classes, books, and lodging. This might be an option but it detracts from the time most students need to learn. Their studies suffer when a student is overworked.
Pakistan has no shortage of talented youth but in several instances, a lack of resources prevents them from realizing their potentials. This becomes more problematic when it comes to accessing higher education. The Government of Pakistan acknowledges these constraints and has tasked Higher Education Commission to facilitate the needy and deserving students through Need-Based Scholarships. Scholarships have been announced for financially disadvantaged students of as many as 94 public sector universities and their campuses. The scholarships aim to elevate the socio-economic status of the students by enabling their chances to get modern education and career opportunities for their brighter future. Financial assistance and scholarships are available for study at the undergraduate level in all disciplines at HEC selected public sector Pakistani universities and degree awarding institutions.

The Government of Pakistan has launched the country's largest undergraduate Scholarship program Ehsaas Undergraduate scholarship 2019. Under the Ehsaas scholarship program, 200,000 scholarships will be awarded to the deserving students in the coming four years. A 50% quota is reserved for female students. There are different kinds of scholarships offered by the universities of Pakistan. Those institutions providing scholarships to the participant must learn to correctly manage their finances to ensure a positive relationship between donors and recipients. At UMT, merit-based scholarships are awarded at the time of admission while need-based financial assistance can be requested during the course of study only in exceptional circumstances. Some awards, however, are based on academic performance during a semester but double awards are not given.
